Make sure it’s an actual bank statement. We were turned away with even an official letter from the bank and a deposit slip or letter because we tried to go whenherbank account was just opened.

As long as the DS-2019 shows the updated end date, this should be fine. The visa is only an entry document, and Js are entered J-1/DS on the I-94. The 30-day grace can sometimes be an issue (DMV uses the DS-2019 as the end date without including the grace period) but the actual program dates shouldn't be an issue.

What about when an au pair is extending? If she isn’t renewing her visa, can she renew her DL given VA’s new and stricter driver’s license requirements?

Depends on the country. We've had German AuPairs and they basically just get a license. Other countries have much stricture requirements because those drivers tend to be higher risk.

I'm having trouble finding this information on the DMV website. She has an international drivers license. She is just going to need to take the written test right? Not the behind the wheel? What does she need besides her international drivers license, passport and visa?
