Allowed, sure. Would I? Definitely not. I work with infants and toddlers and it's not something they should be doing during the day. Before bed time or whatever is fine but during the day I think it's a no no unless the kids are sick or something.

This should really be labeled " do you allow your children to watch tv while your nanny is working / in charge". As nannies we follow our employers instruction. I don't want to let my charges watch 2 hours of tv everyday but my employers ask me to. I shouldn't be judged for that. If my employers say no tv or screens then of course they wouldn't watch anything with me.

No! Our nanny was an elementary school teacher and is opposed to toddlers and preschoolers watching any TV or accessing any screens so the kids get absolutely no TV when nanny is there (55 hours a week). We let the kids watch a little TV on weekends - all PBS "Bob The Builder" and "Super Why".

My employers want the children to watch tv and movies . They get upset if the new movies they have purchased don't get watched. It's hard to fit into our day unless we have snow days or no school days .

Parents had a standing tv time every day prior to my hire, and I've been required to keep it. It's one of the things I hate most, but it's either real with it or move on.

Generally, no. She has them busy doing other things. However, if they're sick, or stuck inside all day, then sometimes they'll watch a show or a movie. But they don't even watch one thing a week. Probably more like 1-2 things per month, total.

Parent here and I agree. The parents decide the parameters, hopefully in conjunction with the nanny.

In our house our now 6 year twins are allowed one "show" a day - which means a half hour of tv. On snow days, or if someone is sick, or if it's been really crazy, or sometimes just as a treat, they might get a full length movie.

Generally there was no tv until about age 3, though that wasn't an absolute.

I'm a nanny, and I feel the question should be "do you let your nanny let your child watch TV." The parents are always quick to make it known during interview or shortly after how they feel about TV. I follow their lead, changing it up during the day as I feel appropriate.

Our nanny does not.
