Wow! Aren’t you presumptous and racist.

Racist?! PP said American - millions of African Americans, Asian Americans, etc are American!!! Holy hell, PP, do you even know what the word "racist" means?!

Give her a break, PP. The idiot doesn't know the difference between race and nations. In her mind only white people are Americans. Probably a trump supporter...

Pp here. Did I trigger you, snowflake? Racist was the wrong word to use, but pp clearly shows her hatred for Americans by her presumptuous stately that if the MIL is American, she will bail. Btw, I’m not white and I’m not a trump supporter.

Calm down, PP. Stop parroting "snowflake" if you don't want to be called a trump-lover or Fox watcher.

And PP's generalization is spot on in my family! My American Boomer mom would not commit to childcare for a full day every single week while my foreign born MIL would love it. There is nothing wrong or "hating Americans" about it - it is generally true. Our American born mothers were the first "liberated women" - a generation of professionals mothers working outside the home.

Uh....??!
What was the question again.....????

People need to stay on topic instead of looking to start beefs w/other people.

What is wrong w/everyone this evening??!!

OP: Your offer sounds very good & I am sure you will find a great Nanny for your needs.
Your pay + benefits package is very good.
Especially the four weeks of vacation.

Good luck.
Hope you find someone soon!

"Snowflake"? That is so tired and overdone by trump supporters that I doubt your denial.

NP here and I am an American Baby Boomer grandmother and as a cultural generalization, the foreign born PP was right and we all know it. Noticing cultural differences is not hating Americans nor racist.

Not racist, PP. Just very different cultures. I am foreign born but understand American culture for American women born in Baby Boom generation.

Anonymous wrote:I work in the medical field and will be going back four days a week. My MIL will be watching the baby one day a week, so we only need a nanny for 3 days
( 33 hours a week) plus 1-2 date nights a month. We live in McLean and expect the nanny to be a U.S. citizen that speaks English, at least 5 years of nanny experience with babies and young children, possess CPR/First Aid certification with willingness to be vaccinated ( Tdap and yearly flu shot), and references. We will also run a criminal and MVR check.

The duties of the position will be care for baby, baby tasks, and small tasks like emptying the dishwasher. We require the nanny to adapt to responsibilities as child gets older - preparing meals for child, researching activities, taking baby to classes, etc.

What do nannies charge for this position? We know we have to pay a little higher to keep a nanny since it’s part-time. Is $23 an hour gross reasonable? We will be offering up to 4 weeks paid vacation with an additional 5 days PTO, all federal holidays off, and 5 sick days. We are willing to contribute a stipend to health insurance.

Try it, OP. I doubt you will retain anyone good at that rate.

Make sure the date night times are well established in advance. And be prepared for MIL to crap out on you.

$28 or 30 for one child is too much. That’s outrageous.

Good part time childcare is VERY hard to find and even harder to hang on to. The above is not the least bit out of line for so few hours.

Nanny here. I think your package is reasonable. I worked part time (30 hrs) in the D.C area and was paid $25 hr and 12 PTO days.
