Subject: part time short term nanny - how difficult to find?
It's easy to find someone. You will definitely be able to find someone.
Now to find someone good that you feel really good about that you could imagine having them raising and nurturing and caring and feeding your child for all their childhood but only keeping them short term.... that's the hard job.

OP - thanks everyone. I actually meant to type spring, so it might be a bit harder, but these are still very helpful ideas.

You might find someone who wants a temporary nanny share to fill a gap.

Easy because it's summer but try to line up for mid-May to mid-August because college students are free then. And look in late March/April.

Pay well, be kind and put it out there - with an agency or on your own. Yes, it is a difficult position to fill but sometimes you just get lucky and your needs match someone else's timeline.

Very easy if you use an agency (like MetroParentRelief), very tough to just find on your own.

We may be looking for a short term and part time nanny next summer, to bridge a gap in child care for one child that will be~5 mo old. Obviously this won't be the most desirable position, but would we be able to find someone in downtown DC (near Archives)? We would be upfront with our needs. Given the circumstances, we'd even understand if someone took the position as a bridge for their positions, etc. The upside is that we are flexible on what hours are needed, so we could hire someone who has a morning and/or late afternoon position, and is looking to make some extra money. We know it is too early to advertise now, we are just getting a sense of what we could expect.
