Interesting point PP about your dog since any potential Nanny will be around your pet during the day & you will want to be sure that she is 100% comfortable around household pets of course.

Actually I said that because I want to see if my dog is comfortable with the nanny. If she's not, I would not hire that person.

I put the cats in my ad, and bring them up several times in preliminary conversations. I do not want to hire someone who is allergic, doesn't like cats, is uncomfortable around cats, prefers not to deal with cats, etc.. They live in my house, and are here all day, every day. I agree that I would do the same if we had a dog.

I make sure I talk to all verbal children. I've had enough issues with sahm transitioning back to work that I want to make sure kids know what is going on. Red flag: this is hour new friend, Mommy's new friend, someone I know rather than being introduced as new nanny.

I wouldn’t hire a nanny who didn’t meet my kids first. My oldest is super stubborn and my youngest has huge tantrums. I want them to know what they are dealing with.

I would want to meet with former nanny, as well.

OMG, it is essential to meet with the children before accepting a position as their nanny!! The children are the job!!

Of course. You should NEVER accept a job without meeting the kids. Or the father or mom (if only one of them is interviewing).

Do you think it’s better to meet kids before accepting position?
The reason I am asking is some time it’s hard to deal with some kids. Can we make right decision if we will meet them first?
I try to avoid tantrums kids.
Thanks
