A one week bonus is normal. Does she WANT a scarf or vase? I do not like to give material things to people unless I know they want them.

1 week bonus would be great, if you can afford that.

Skip the vase or scarf, it's typically the gift you get when you don't know what to pick : she will probably hate it.
Don't you know her a little to know what she'd like?

OP here. One more detail. Our HHI is 200K. We don't receive holiday bonuses via our jobs. We love the nanny and want to be generous, but also reasonable.

My 1 year old has been in a nanny share with a FABULOUS nanny for 6 months. We live in NW DC and each family pays $12/hour (so nanny makes $24 for 2 toddlers). What's a typical holiday bonus/gift? We thought we'd do cash plus a little present--e.g. a vase, a scarf, etc.

1. What's a typical range for a holiday cash bonus?

2. Any thoughts on a nice small present to go along with the cash?

Thanks for the advice!
