Sheesh... I just wanted to post an appreciative topic. Chill out.

Are you the wannabe nanny that always claims her bosses pay her $26 an hour and that's the going rate for this area, and nannies considering something around $15 should not? $26 is unusually high for one toddler, even in NW.

No, I am actually the employer who has been paying $26 an hour plus we pay her healthcare insurance 100%. Our nanny has a college degree in Early Childhood Education and years of preschool teaching experience. I wanted - and got - a true nanny and not a housekeeper who babysits.

I've done this for my "unicorn family". They treated me so well and showed me so much respect and trust. I would have literally done anything for the.

When both parents and the twins were sick I came in Saturday morning and spent all weekend caring for parents and children.

Sent too soon.

In the past, they were very wonderful when I was sick. Dropped off crackers and gingerale and paid me my full 10 hours (instead of the 8 our contract guaranteed). Of course, I wanted to repay the favor when they ended up sick. Sent both parents upstairs (can't deal with adult vomiting) and periodically bought them soup and ginger ale. Took care of the twins, we watched so much TV and they were rocked nonstop. I truly love this family.

I love when wonderful families find wonderful nannies and visa versa!

Sorry OP you shouldn't get raked over the coals for posting a positive about your nanny. I'm a nanny and there isn't anything I wouldn't do for my wonderful family. Obviously your nanny feels the same way about you. PS feel better

I concur that the best idea would be for your Nanny to take home his pack ‘n play & simply care for him in her own home to avoid falling ill herself.

Yes, she does sound pretty AMAZING OP!
Totally worth her weight in pure gold.

Please make sure she is paid very well for her services + make sure she gets a nice holiday bonus on top of that.

Did you pay her OT for every 48 hours? Of course, you didn't and you will probably give her a measly one week bonus. Also, what if you gave her what you have, are you paying her for all sick leave,?

If I were your nanny, I'd have taken your kid home with me and gotten all my regular stuff done while also preventing your kid from getting sick (hopefully.) Hope you're all feeling better!

DH and I both were sick all last weekend - a really awful stomach bug that had us both hugging the toilet for 24 hours and exhausted for the next 24 hours. We have a 18 month old who we didn't want to get sick and who neither of us had the energy or stomach to handle.

Called our amazing nanny at 6AM on Saturday morning (she doesn't work weekends for us at all) and she as here in 45 minutes and greeted DD as she woke up. They stayed out of the house as much as possible and Nanny even stopped and got us ginger ale. Nanny worked both Saturday and Sunday and never acted like it was a big deal or a sacrifice (although I know it was).

We have no family here and I honestly don't know how we could have made it through without her.

A thread in the General Forum on this topic reminded me to mention how truly blessed we are with our nanny!
