Dogs are better behaved and happier if they get two solid walks a day. It stimulates them as well as tires them so they're less likely to be rough when playing, or play in naughty ways.

I've had dogs all my life and a 15 minute walk is fine.

Speak for your dog. haha Your experience hardly matches everyone's. I suppose you think all children are the same too?

No to derail this thread on the dog but I agree with you on a 45 min walk OP. I feel like that is a good exercise walk as opposed to a 10 min walk which is more of a stretch your legs and go to the bathroom.

I took a temp job for 3 mos that was 3 days a week when I was trying to decide what to do with my life. One Nanny job had ended and I wasnt sure if I wanted to stay in Nannying or do something else. So I took the temp job.
I think you can find someone, it may just be harder.

Good to know you've raised every single breed of dog, as well as every personality. Heck, you've clearly raised every dog on the planet...right?

You will need to pay a premium for so few hours in order to keep someone. Good luck.

Why don't you look at the rematch pool to get you through those few months. There are always a few whose hps abused the system, so they aren't in rematch because they did anything wrong.

Possibly a high school senior or a college student that has travel or other plans later in the summer. Also possibly a nanny that is between jobs (has a summer gig lined up). I would expect it to take some time to find this person and to probably not be able to start looking until maybe a month before.

OP here, interesting that you ask about the dog?

Dog walk would be for extra hours for this person. If she doesn't want to do it, then we hire a dogwalker.

Why does dog need a 45 minute walk?

Our au pair is finishing her year with us in mid-April. We need care from mid-April through mid-June.

I need afterschool assistance from 3-7/7:30pm Mon-Thurs (total: 18 hours/week). This involves quite a bit of driving (to/from activities) for 10 and 13 year old girls. If additional hours are desired, I can offer more by way of mornings 8-9:30 (seeing 10 yr old off to school and giving dog a 45-min walk) and/or Saturday mornings (8-12). We need a reliable driver, and someone comfortable with dogs (even if not walking the dog).

Where should we look for such a person? Will anyone be interested in such a short term gig that doesn't seem to work for local college students (it would be at the end of a semester going into their summer)? How much should we expect to pay?
