My employers give me an annual bonus of one month's pay. There's nothing impersonal about that. Believe me.
15.27 here. Cash may not be impersonal to you, but it is to most people. It requires zero knowledge of the person, zero thought into what they like. I did not say that it wouldn't be appreciated.
For myself, I prefer a mix of cash and a highly personal gift if my employer really knows me. If they don't, impersonal cash is best!
