hourly. she can't leave and i'm assuming you expect her to take care of all meals, baths, cleaning, etc. she would do as if on a normal shift, plus the extra breakfast and dinner. there's no reason having someone stay overnight in your home to provide care should be cheap-it's a huge luxury.

This. I never sleep that well when I'm on call in someone else's home.

I have two rates.

If the kids sleep through and the parents are reasonable (fridge is stocked, working no more than 7 days straight, etc.), I charge 100 for all hours kids are asleep, plus hourly for hours they are awake.

If kids are special needs, have behavior issues, parents never have the fridge stocked, or its more than 7 days in a row, I charge hourly for all hours.

ASK YOUR NANNY what she charges for overnights. Why ask us? We aren't the ones caring for your kids.

It is whatever she charges. Even if kids are sleeping, nanny is still on duty and sleeping with one foot on the floor.

When we had our nanny do this for us a couple of times we paid:
- 75/night
- OT for all waking hours (which meant about 14 hours a day)
- gave an extra day off when we got back so that she didn't work 10 days straight

She has done this for us once since she no longer worked for us, and that time we just paid her regular hourly rate (plus overnight fees).

Hourly until 10pm ( because thats when I usually go to sleep) then a flat overnight rate of anywhere from $50-$75, then hourly again when kids wake up.

We pay hourly for overnights. Travel days we pay $350 for the whole 24 hours.
