How old is your DS now? Maybe the other family is thinking about other options for next year too and it won't be a big deal.

+1. This is waaaaaaaay too soon even if it's an easy, textbook pregnancy.

Don't let either the other family or the nanny know before you're in the second trimester.

Let both Nanny AND the share family know right away that you are expecting.

Not only is this the most courteous thing you can do for them, but it actually gives all the parties involved more than enough time to think about what should be done.

By the way,
Congrats on your news!!

Tough situation. Be honest and tell the nanny first - try to see if she would even be interested in working just for you - and then talk to the other family.

Someone is going to be pissed, OP.

We just found out we are going to have our second child in July. Our DS is in a nanny share and absolutely adore the nanny. We'd love to keep her on as our family's nanny, but for a variety of reasons, we don't think continuing with the share family will work once baby 2 is born. Any suggestions for how to approach the situation? We don't want to screw over the other family but we also don't want months of awkwardness or to be left in a lurch several months before our due date.
