Just make something up like you have an earache that's bothering you and you need to get it checked out. Or make an appt for off hours. I'm wondering if you take a lot of time off and she is having a hard time justifying more time off?

MB here. Totally inappropriate and not her business. Unless you continually have doctor appointments and miss work frequently due to medical issues, I can't see how this is relevant to your job at all. What a nosy B!

Do you often take sick leave? Maybe she is worried that you won't come back or you are quitting? Anyway its inappropriate to ask this question and just inform her you are going to the doctor you don't need their permission.

If it's PTO (sick leave), she can ask for a doctor's note, I guess, to show that you actually went to the doctor. But even that doesn't have to say anything about the cause.

Completely inappropriate. She hired you because she thought she could count on you to make good judgment calls. You can, and have decided you have a situation that requires a doctor. It completely crosses a HUGE boundary for you to have to tell her.
