One of the reasons having an older nanny is great - she is not addicted to her phone. She watched my child closely and actually plays with her in the park and other public places.

I actually see more mothers on their phones than nannies - and I know most of the nannies and mothers at our park.

And yes, it is neglectful and potentially dangerous. Plus it bugs the crap out of me when someone else's kid is following me (not my kids - me) around the park trying to get me to watch him/her do something or play with him. I feel sorry for these attention-starved, neglected kids but I want to play with my own children.

Would you like your nanny ignoring your child at the park while she plays candy crush on her phone?

I have a small business and do not like my employees using their smart phones during business hours but they do send frequently they are calling their nannies. It is life today.

Not OP but I don't think there's a problem taking a phone call or quickly checking your e-mail but if your nanny is sitting there not paying attention to your child or talking on the phone then I have an issue. I'm not paying $17.00 for her to sit on her ass and gossip with the other nannies.

I'd be on my phone too if my kid was napping. OP is talking about what she sees at the park genius.

I was a former nanny for 2 years and before that I was a special needs teacher for 3. Now I am a SAHM. Everytime I go to the parks all I see are the adults on their phones. Your child is asking me to play with them or push them on the swing. No thanks they are not my responsibility
