Subject: Nanny Needed in NOMA open to Nanny Share
OP, you should post this in the thread for DC - Nanny Search (just scroll down the list of threads on the main forum board here.)
Disregard the troll obviously, but the pp nanny is right - don't ask for references until you're in final discussions w/ a nanny. Once you're on the other side of this (the former employer giving a reference) you will understand why, but a reference that is happy to be called once or twice will be much less happy if they get a call from every single job for which a nanny might apply.
You can and should ask for a good resume, or work history, that can show you the extent of a candidate's experience (including age ranges they are experienced with) and the tenure they've had in positions. That's a good starting request.
Also, be sure to post on your neighborhood listserv - the best referrals/candidates I've gotten have always been from other families. And you might find a share w/ an opening that could work for you.

Anyway Nannies always remember to NEVER ever send a complete stranger your reference info prior to meeting them in person.
You do not want to exhaust your references nor do you want to give their personal contact information out to internet strangers either.
