What a crummy boss OP!

I have a Nanny friend who's DB always complains when writing her paycheck out.

He will say how childcare co$ts are eating away at his bank account in addition to rent, food, bills, etc.

I find these statements SO disrespectful.
My friend works just as hard as he does + everyone else who works for a living.

And so do you.
Let her know that w/out mincing words.
And if she truly cannot afford you....

Well every neighborhood offers daycare at a much less cost.

Her child will not receive the same standard of care, but at least she can stop her annoying whining & get a grip.

I wonder if her employer also makes a comment when they pay her?

Your employer is a selfish bitch.

I've had parents make similar remarks occasionally, but they were usually drunk at the time. Next time, just ask her straight up if you should start looking for another job.

She is so wrong, OP. Please tell her it is a totally inappropriate thing to say to you.

Next time just laugh and say " I wish it hurt more... I need a raise"

THat's completely obnoxious and uncalled for.

Next time respond (gently) w/ something like "You know, it makes me feel pretty crummy every time you say that."

Or bring it up at a regular sit-down "Jane, i had one more thing I wanted to bring up, and it's a little uncomfortable to say, but every time you pay me you make remarks about how much "it hurts" to pay me. That feels crummy and it makes me wonder if my job is in jeapardy. Should I be concerned?"

She is an idiot. You are taking care of her most precious posession.

Teach ber a lesson and find a more deserving family to work for. Then she will have a lot to say "Yikes" about.

"Larletta, I work hard to take the very best care of your child and when you tell me that it hurts to pay me, I am insulted. Does your employer say this to you"?

Nanny/MB Iis not the normal employer/employee relationship. I view it as two equals.Your MB is an insensitive clod

She may not be bringing home a lot after paying you but it is a rude comment to make.
