OP here and yes - I was planning to leave the job in January. So when my employers were trying to jump through hoops to try to just find a nanny who could travel with them while keeping me on when they were in town, I thought it better just to leave now.

You didn't say if you have a new job. If you do not, this would likely qualify you for unemployment if it was a substantial-enough change.
