What can I do to show my appreciation to this lovely couple? I will still see my charge on a regular basis but I think I need to give him something as well - maybe a great and meaningful book?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! TIA
You gave them excellent child care and that is more than enough. Gifts flow down not up. You were The employee.

Not to the child she wasn't.
The child was her responsibility not her employer. It is a job, nothing more!

I made a " My Very Own Name" book which is it a cut book that tells a story with the child's name. I then did a shuttlerfly book for the parents of photos I took of the child throughout the 7 months I was with them. They loved it. I really liked the idea that baby had something educational, but a fun way to remember me.
