Subject: Meaningful goodbye gift ideas?
Hello. I am a nanny. I treasure the pics parents give me, be it in a frame or regular pix.
I wouldn't like jewelry as I don't wear any and even though I love my charges I feel jewerly is too personal.
The best gift for me is to keep the bond after my work has ended. Seeing each other once in a while, receiving school pix or a drawing from the kids. My best memories were when I got phonecall messages for my birthday or New year's, these messages truly melt my heart

Btw, my bracelet is a stainless steel "cuff" that is unisex. Very my style but would look great on a guy.

I keep all notes/cards I receive. That with a check are the best gifts I can get. And of course a stellar letter of recommendation. I don't want a framed picture of your kids, even though I love them. But I do keep all photos I receive.

Honestly, the most meaningful thing will be continuing the relationship. But in terms of something tangible, a photo of the kids with the nanny, something made by the kids and a handwritten, hearfelt note. I don't need more stuff to display, but something 2D is great.

Nannies, when you have left a position, what's the most meaningful gift you have received (besides money -- that is a separate question that I am posting separately)?
Our nanny has been caring for DD and the other child in our share 4 days/week since they were 3 and 5 months old, respectively. Due to a few factors (kids starting preschool, nanny is weary of his long commute) we're sadly ending the share and the nanny has decided to take a new position much closer to home 4 days/week (though he will still be with DD one day a week -- he just couldn't bear to cut the cord entirely!).
Our two families would like to give him a gift to thank him for his loving care of the two kids for the past several years. He's a sentimental guy and very craft-y, so the bar is high! We were hoping to come up with something beyond the kids' handprints on a picture frame, lovely as that is. Any creative ideas would be most welcome. Thank you!
