I have never ever thought about this, but I agree it is something that is very important & that I should look into doing.

My emergency numbers are clearly listed in my phone, ICE family and ICE child's parent. My charges won't wear identification, but I wear an alert tag with the children's names, parents' names and phone numbers. And I only drive the family car, which has their information in the glovebox.

Some very good and caring nannies on this thread! This is something that our nanny thought about and something that never occurred to me.

5:50 here: if I am taking them to be crowded public place, I also use safety tats, which are temporary tattoos with their parents and my phone number on them, so in an emergency the parents would be notified even if they found the child but not me.

Their carseats have a little slot for an emergency card which is also filled out.

Put charges' parents' contact info into your "emergency contacts" on your phone. These can be accessed without unlocking phone.

Not good enough for me. Sorry. I want my charges to be with their parents as soon as humanly possible.

In my medical information on my phone, I have the access code to my contacts and the parents' names.

I have two charges (different families) and think I might start carrying special ID cards for each of them.

Yes, of course, I am employed legally but my little charges would be traumatized before the cops got around to checking employment records and my one little charge is only 1.5.

Laminating a contact card an keeping it on me isn't a bad idea at all.

I am out and about with my 20 month old charge all the time. It occurred to me yesterday (when someone nearly ran into me at an intersection) that if I was killed or rendered unconscious, no one would know who my charge belonged to. All my phone numbers are on my locked iphone and, being single, if the police went to my address no one is there to tell them who the toddler in my care is.

Do you carry a card for your charge? Something like "The child in my care is Larla Smith and her parents' phone numbers are _________" Is there a better way short of an ID bracelet for my charge (which she would loathe and pull at).
