Im in Ashburn and had no problems finding a native English speaker and a clean driving (I supply a car) record for summer care at $15/hr. Granted, I need 40hrs, but the reality is, for older kids (my only frame of reference) most everyone is paying $12-15.

Fifteen an hour for two young ones two + under would be at least $18/HR.

Fifteen seems to low.

I used to babysit part time when I switched from being a FT Nanny to a different career. I was also in Loudoun Co and charged $15 an hour. I think $15-18 is fine.

I would offer to pay a set "day" rate, because you only need her for one day per week. For 2 children, I would say anywhere between $200-300 for the day. Also, for her to watch the children at her home, she does not need a license when the children are siblings. If it was 2 separate families, then yes, she would need a family home child care license. You can also ask her what pay rate or set daily rate she has in mind and go from there.

Ashburn rates are cheaper than close-in. I pay my adult mature woman babysitter with a lot of experience who comes to my house to watch 6 month old and 6 year old $18/hour for NW DC - and she lives out in the burbs. It would save her between an hour and two hors not to have to drive so far. So I would pay something between say between $16-20. See how much she wants... If I wanted 12 hours per day, I would work overtime into this for hours past 8 hours.

Also, the quotes on this board for rates tend to be inflated because of the subgroup of nannies who are the most frequent posters here. They may be the average rates for this group, but not across the board.

Good, trustworthy child care is almost impossible to find. You need to determine what that's worth to you.

A neighbor is interested in watching my two children (6 months & 2 years old) one day a week when I head back to work part time. She will not have any other children with her when she babysits. Based on traffic and the number of client stops/unknowns I want to reserve her for 12 hours that day. She is wonderful and has lots of experience with children.

What is the going rate for this? I am new to the area and I am not sure what range to even consider. Previously my parents watched my children. Thank you.
