OP, stop with the 7pm stuff. You posted 4 comments before you changed your story; no one is falling for it. What you did was incredibly rude and self-centered, and the fact that you're trying to talk your way out of getting called out for it on this board means you don't get that and you're still more concerned with yourself than what you did to her. If I was your nanny I'd be looking for a different job; there's zero chance that this is a one-off for you.

OP here and as I said, it was a bit after 7 and we did pay her extra and offer an uber home which she declined. My mistake was letting her know so late on in her shift that we were going to be later than planned.

If my end time is 6, then by 5:50 I have my things together, am straightening up last minute, getting really excited about leaving, and looking out the window periodically to watch for MB and DB. If I got a text at that time that they'll be another hour- hour and a half, I'd be pissed.

OP, I am having a real tough time buying your story because you first stated that you arrived home at 7:30PM, then you switched it to 7:00PM.

Also, you stated that you "tried" to get her an über back home, but never confirmed if you actually did.

Plus, your Nanny told you she was free up until six-thirty, but you didn't get home until 7:30PM.

Yes, I think your Nanny had every right to be angry at you for coming home so late.

You owe her a huge apology & to never let this happen again.

It was 6PM that I let her know we would be an hour later, We were a little after 7PM.

Besides she didn't know she wasn't leaving at 6:00pm until it was 6:00pm! That is beyond rude. You knew you weren't going to be back at 5:00pm when you still weren't ready to leave. I would be pissed, and I've been a nanny and a MB. You didn't respect her time.

Well, She didn't know until about 6PM that we would be an hour late but she has always said she can work up till 6.30PM. We tried to get her an uber home and did pay her extra.

I'd be pissed too, if you hadn't texted me at least by 5pm letting me know you'd be late and a ballpark of how late you may be. If you didn't let her know, that's in bad taste. Imagine if she showed up 1.5 hours late to babysit for you without letting you know. You'd probably want to fire her on the spot, right?

She could have had plans at 6:30 or a family to get back home to, kids to tuck into bed, etc. I hope you paid her for another 1.5 hours of her time, plus a tip. If you let her know with sufficient time and paid her extra, sure she can be annoyed, but I don't think she has any reason to be pissed. If you didn't do either or both of those things, she definitely does.
