Seems fine but I would consider some paid holidays and another week off (maybe 7 nanny choice and 8 family choice). Your offer (two weeks) if standard, but being from another country, it seems to tally inhumane to me to offer people only 2 weeks off. Three is MUCH better.

I think you also need to offer paid holidays.

This is fine, except you are listing too many things for housework. Just say clean up after the kids - and maybe also empty the dishwasher. Cleaning up after the kids will entail sweeping/vacuuming when they drop food, kids' laundry, dishes, empty trash, etc.

Asking nanny to be your maid during her off time is. Outgoing to endear anyone to you. None of the nannies I know would want that job.

If I were you, OP, I'd do 8:30-5 or whatever M-Thursday and Friday 9-1. No one wants to work 12-4. - right in the middle of the day.

I think the schedule is weird. If you are trying to attract someone, you let them have half day Friday, perhaps. Or, you can offer 9-5 everyday with the option of Fridays being half day. If someone wants more cleaning and errands, great, if not then they can have half day fridays.

I agree that you are asking for more childcare than is typically required for a childcare position.

Vacuuming, dusting & running errands...??!

Nannies typically like to focus on the safety, comfort + well-being if a child,
not worrying about dusting the shelves or picking up your dry cleaning.

You should hire someone else for those duties.

Interesting, and I was only doing 6 hours on Friday because I was worried people wouldn't appreciate the non-40 hour week. Would you recommend I made-up those other hours M-Th and made Friday a 4-hour day (12-4pm?)

I don't think it's good or bad - starting at 10:00 is not really late enough to plan doctor appointments or whatever for that morning. Sounds more confusing to have the days start at different times, but maybe someone will like it? You could always try and see if that make sense and if you don't get anyone, just switch to 9-5 every day or whatever. Leaving early on Fridays might be interesting to someone.

We currently are extremely spoiled by our nanny situation, but we are looking at moving (we are in the northern VA area) due to a new job and I'm curious as to if what I'm thinking is reasonable. This is all hypothetical but I'm hoping for advice on if I should change my expectations. 2 boys, 2YO and 3.5YO who will be in school 3 days/week from 9am-12pm. Nanny would pick-up from school (within 5 miles of our home).

M, T - 9:30am-5:30pm = 8hr/day (school days)
W, Th - 8:30am-5:30pm = 9hr/day (boys home all day)
F - 10am-4pm = 6hr/day (school day)
Total = 40 hours/week (32 hours taking care of children)
$18/hr = $720/week (any hours over 40 would be $27/hr)

In the mornings when the boys are at school (8 hours/week), I would like help with light housekeeping (vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, boys' laundry, grocery delivery, meal prep, occasional errands like dry cleaning, etc)

We are also considering at buying a car for nanny to use for boys and errands, but will reimburse milage if not.

2 weeks vacation (1 to overlap with family)

5 sick days

No benefits

Does this seem reasonable (having a staggered schedule) and at all enticing? Thank you!
