Maybe explain to them one more time you count on your weekly pay just like they obviously count on theirs, and if you are not paid on time, you will have to stop coming in until they settle up what they owe?

But honestly this kind of disrespect would have me looking hard for another employer. At some point you will get shafted.

tell them you want to be paid weekly or twice a month. whatever you need.
your rate is fine given you bring your own kid.

Start looking for a new job.
I was going to say demand more money and better treatment from them, but then you said you "bring your child to work".
Unfortunately, this lessens your desirability as a nanny, and you may be stuck.

Personally, I would not work until I got paid. As in literally showing up the next day, and if they didn't have cash in hand, turn around and walk out.

I am paid late at least once a month for financial reasons. I am only paid $13 per hour for 30 hours a week, 3 kids. No benifits at all not even sick days and I had to convince them to pay me half when they go on vacation. I am not in DC but still an expensive area. They are always saying how poor they are, yet MB has been looking at 600,000 homes (their current home would get 400k). Making offers and all! Ugh. Wtf. Nanny market sucks here plus I bring my child to work. I don't know how to say that I need my paycheck on time. They always have an excuse. As if I'm not an actual bill.
