There should be information on the ticket on how to contest it if you were not the driver. At least in Virginia, it requires signing an affidavit stating you were not the driver of the vehicle at the time.

I think you can challenge the ticket.

Speeding violations are "owned" by the driver of the car -- not the owner of the vehicle. Give the DMV her home address in her home country and tell them to contact her.

That's a bummer... And now she is gone so you really can't do much about it. I would probably take a chance to write a letter and ask for the ticket to be waived or reduced since it was for your Au Pair who has now left the country. I would not count on any local government employee to show much sympathy, but it won't hurt to ask.

FWIW, I did get a similar ticket in France with a friend's car, and they asked for the ticket to be waived and they agreed to...

I doubt there is anything you can do but you should probably forward it to your LCC and cc your program director. There is a slight possibility they will give you a reduction in some small fee or something that you have to pay to the agency for your next AP.

At the same time, you can also send a letter appealing the ticket and include your agency's confirmation on their letterhead that the AP has left your employ and the country. There is always the chance that DC might waive the ticket (doubtful but you never know).

So our au pair and our family rematched a couple weeks ago. She went back home bc she couldn't find a match. Long story there. Yesterday, we get a ticket in the mail. $200 speeding caught on camera. She had car all weekend. It was 5:59pm sat. She is gone. Anythlng we can do?
