I am also a Nanny OP & I have never or will I ever raise my voice to someone else's child.

It is just not my style.

I do speak in a firm voice when I need to, but that is it.

This family sounds way too picky to me.

You will do so much better on your own, trust me.

That's so weird. OP find another family but with these criteria in mind: one baby (6 months and below), no nosy visiting family members and most importantly family appreciate a nice nanny.

Their loss. Your styles of child rearing are clearly on different pages. I don't think shouting is a good method either but at least now you can find a more suitable family.

OP here. pp I understand what you're saying and am thinking that's the issue, however, in many cases the kids listen to the nanny way better than to the parents, which they even said to me about their former nanny. I said from experience I agree, and asked them not to take it personal. So when they listen to me and don't listen to the parents, it's not my fault, I don't tell them to listen to them. I see all these unhappy kids all the time, being yelled at by parents. Geeze, let them be kids and enjoy their childhood. No kid will ever be perfect, that's why they're called kids.

"Too nice" can be another way of saying "doesn't provide structure or discipline" which would be a problem for me.

I got let go because apparently I was too nice to their children.
Apparently they want somebody tougher, her mom comes over sometimes and she yells at the kids, even st dinner "eat, eat, eat".
They're only 5, I read a book while they were eating, that way they were sitting nicely and ate dinner within 10 minutes, WITHOUT me yelling at them.

I do not yell at kids. Period.

I'm not sure if I can believe her.
Just a vent. Wondering if other moms would let her nanny go because of that.
