A Nanny cannot sue her employers to be financially compensated for hours she didn't work no matter if she was promised the moon & stars.

She could only sue for hours worked, then not paid for.

I still cannot believe people are advising such ill-advised advice.

Show us a precedent where a Nanny successfully sued her employers for not getting the hours she was told and I will eat crow.

I strongly suggest you let your employers know that you need more hours in order to make ends meet or you will have no other option but to find another job w/regular hours set.

Get another job BEFORE they let you go. NOW.

Families need to be honest and fair and not drag a nanny along like this when she isn't really needed. It isn't right and very unfair on the nanny.

You don't have guaranteed hours for all of your scheduled hours, OP. I would explain to your employers that you cannot afford to lose work like this. Be open to finding a new position as it sounds like they don't need you as much as they used to (which is natural and going to happen with every nanny job).

You don't have guaranteed hours. You have a schedule. "Guaranteed hours" means that they pay you for all the hours they've "guaranteed" even if they cancel on you.

So you're angry at yourself for not getting guaranteed hours?

My NF family keep cancelling on me all the time lately. One of the parents especially MB always seems to be ill and takes a lot of time off work and also DB keeps arriving home really early from work. They pay me still but not as much as if I had done a full shift.
It is getting more then frustrating now. I feel they don't really need me even though they say they really depend on me. I am also bored as they cancel so often and it leaves me with nothing to do.

Should I say something? I feel like they are biding their time until they tell me I am no longer needed.
