Yeah families do pay $22 for nanny share, but I do think its crazy for nanny share to start the nanny pay at $18 or $20.

For $20/hr they're getting a sitter, not a nanny.

I have posted this before. I live in NWDC and pay $27 an hour for one child. My DD's nanny has a masters degree in Early Education and was a preschool teacher. Nanny has several nanny friends with the same education and experience who are earning the same rate. Yes, experience and education matter.

What is sad is that nannies that have their education and 15+ years of experience, you want to offer them $18-22 for two children. That's a no no. Don't ask for a professional nanny. I think it's a slap in the face.

Nanny here, if you are offering $18 for your nanny doing a nanny share, I think that's crazy. Most nannies that do a nanny share most of the time have more experience. OP the problem is that families want their nannies to be experienced and educated but are not willing to pay good price.

I'm assumingi that the nannies who make $22 at a share wouldn't be hired by most at $22 for two kids.

If you can find an easier job for the same or more pay, you should take it OP. I don't think anyone has any illusions that nannies will willingly choose to work for less than they can get elsewhere.

However, the nannies that are getting offered $22 for one child usually have different qualifications than the nannies getting offered $22 for a share.

Why is that family in DC area are willing to pay $18-21 for one child. Vs a nanny share that wants to pay $18-22. I don't think it's right double the work load. So to the families with nanny share remember that a lot of families are willing to pay their nanny the same price for one child. If you are not offering more than $22. Most nannies will take the offer to work with the family with one child.
