I started a new position on Monday with three adopted children ages 7, 8, and 9. I did not see the children's bedrooms during my interview. I have discovered rotten food, maggots, dirty dishes, mold, fecal matter on walls, and used diapers on the floor. The 9 year old was born addicted to drugs and has various issues, so he still uses a diaper at night. His underwear have actual feces in them (not skid marks). I asked MB if I could give her a hand bathing the children (they smell) and she said they only bathe every 4 days or so! On top of that, her and DB live separately because he has dementia and had become verbally abusive to her and their oldest daughter (15). He apparently called MB and the daughter whores and slurs. She claims it was never sexual or physical, but I am not sure I believe. All of the children still wet the bed multiple times a week. He also comes over unannounced and demands things from me such as warming up his coffee. He even showed up today and tried to take the kids to his place! Mb told me he would not be around, but he has been at the home every day this week. How do I quit professionally and do need to call CPS? I truly feel sorry for the kids. I thourghly cleaned and disinfected all three of their rooms. I could not stand the fact that they were living in such filth. I would hate to tear a family apart, but it's so unsafe and unsanitary.
