An inexpensive bunch of flowers would not bother me at all. I'd appreciate the thought.

One hour's pay or less and I'd be super touched. 1-2 hours and I'd be touched, but think it was slightly OTT. 2+ and I'd worry about paying you back, etc and it would be mores stress-inducing than appreciated. But, seriously, 1 hour or less salary with a handmade card from DD? Amazing.

Thanks, I will do this.

I'm in the "please don't spend your money on me" column but I love when our nanny helps the kids understand how to make/give a gift.

I also agree though that celebrating your boss passing a test is a little odd/unnecessary.
some tests are actually a BIG deal. My DB is out of town taking a test that his job (and thus mine) depends on. When he passes you better believe there will be some type of celebration!

I would think it was weird and a bit condescending to get a pat on the back for passing a test. That is something your mom does, not your employee.

Posters like you aren't helpful.

I think it's sweet OP, but as others have said it would make me uncomfortable. Helping the child to make a "congrats Mommy" card would be lovely and I'd certainly know that you were the one to thank. But I feel very awkwardly about our nanny buying us presents of any kind.

Don't do it. Make a homemade "Congrats" card with your charge instead. Gifts flow downward. I would be uncomfortable.

A $5-$20 bouquet from the grocery store? I love flowers, and I'd be touched.

Anything more expensive would make me uncomfortable, though.

Too much. Gifts flow downward. Pick a single flower and have your charge give it to her.

What would you think if your nanny bought you flowers as you had passed a work exam and said they were from her and your DD? Too much? I am considering doing it for my MB but worried it is a bit OTT.
