This is nanny's job, not her family or friends. She probably was upset over her own job loss and struggling to handle it. A nanny often is at the mercy of the employers being employed.

The seat isn't the issue. Mom lost her job, probably feels horrible and cannot pay for child care without a job.

Yes, the text came tonight, hours after leaving. Definitely going to take a day to myself. I feel so incredibly down. Thanks for the words of encouragement.

Why didn't you say goodbye to the kids? You knew via text that you were losing your job. Did the text come after you went home? Anyway, I'm really sorry that happened; it's a crummy thing to have happen and i know you must be feeling pretty bad right now. Take a day to yourself to do whatever you need to clear your head and then jump in with both feet and start hunting for a new job. Oh and she was obviously lying about her sister borrowing the seat!!

I'm sorry OP. That sucks.

It sounds like it sucks for her also though. It isn't as though you're being fired because you didn't do a good job, and you should walk away with a good reference.

She certainly could have handled it better, including notice and severance, but they might be panicking about what this means for them.

So guys, I was unfortunately let go. I texted her expressing my concerns. Here was her response:

(1/3) Things aren't great. Got a pink slip. District is in bad financial crisis. Since I was one of the most recent hired, they l (2/3) et me go first. Financially we can't afford someone to watch Larla anymore. I'm sorry about the last minute notice, but we have to start saving money asap. (3/3) . My sister needed to borrow the carseat. We wish you all the best. Thanks for everything. We will write you a recommendation.

I think you may be overreacting. Just ask why.

you should them and ask for an explanation. better yet call them and make sure you sound like you mean business.

They could be entertaining an extra child and therefore need an extra seat.
They could be renting a car and don't want the hassle of removing the seat from own car.

Or any number of reasons they might just need the seat.

I get out of work around 3:30/4:00. MB texted me at 2:30 asking me to leave the car seat so that they can use it over the weekend. I have been with them since October and they have never asked me to do this. I can't imagine why they would be firing me. Should I text her back anything but okay?
