I don't have kids and don't want them. Being a mother is not a goal for every woman. And I live with my parents, but guess what? I own the house. I love that I can help them in their older age.

I don't tell my boss anything about my personal life. It's PERSONAL. I will chat with you about the job. OP, perhaps what you THINK is "chatting" is really "asking nosy questions." Try chatting about things like tv or complimenting how her shirt is cute or a new museum exhibit you have been wanting to see.

Nanny here- Don't ask about her personal life, what is wrong with you??? My Boss has never asked things like that and I've been there 8 years. Our relationship works because it's professional and we have boundaries.
