It's not okay to volunteer or just assume she will do it. You need to ask, and she'll most likely say it's fine. My MB has done this once with a friend of hers who didn't have care for her baby that day. The other mom offered me $100 for the day, so I was happy.

The big thing to remember is that you don't own your nanny and can't loan her to others without asking her first. Ask your nanny if she'd be willing to take on an extra kid for the day, then give her the other moms info so they can discuss rates.

Perhaps the sister (probably mother of the child) needs to be at the hospital with her partner.

I think most people would be happy to do this. I agree that the nanny should be paid extra for those hours, but it's not an unreasonable thing to ask.

Sure. Ask, be clear that there will be extra compensation for her, and also let her know the circumstances and that it's ok if she doesn't feel comfortable doing it.

Most nannies would be fine w/ this, especially when handled this respectfully.

I would have zero issues with this. Would make it into a fun cousin party. The kid is probably going through a tough time right now.

I would say yes, as long as we had a good running relationship. If you were known for taking advantage of me and my time, I wouldn't agree.

What the hell? A lot of nannies would be happy to do this for extra pay. It's one afternoon for a few hours.

OP, ask her, and ask her what she'd charge.

Why bold babysit out?

You should ask if nanny would be willing to BABYSIT the child for $x an hour. She should be paid for doing this.

I have asked a friend's nanny to watch my children for a couple of hours when I was in a pinch. I paid her what I would pay a sitter to come to my house.

Well, there's nothing wrong about asking so long as it's done in a way where the nanny will feel comfortable saying No. Also, you need to pay extra for the extra kid.
