Oh my... those are some ugly shoes!!! Not OP but am looking for sandals for the summer and those might be amazing and comfortable but... oh my!
I know, right? I promise they grow on you...the toe coverage alone is priceless.

Try fit flops. I saw these on a lady last week at the mall. She had on a cute striped tunic with leggings.

I wear Merrell shoes. I'm getting a new pair of flip flops today. Super comfortable, stay on and have support.
My last pair lasted almost 4 years.

Personally I'd prefer a sandal (with a heal strap) rather than flip flops - when you need to take off after a toddler it's hard to quick step it in flip flops.

Just make sure they fit really, really well. My issue with flip flops is always trying to find ones with straps that are tight enough. My feet are on the narrow side, and once the straps stretch at all, it becomes a chore to walk any length in them. I end up shuffling a bit, and can't run in them at all (like to chase a break-away toddler).

This is my first full-time nanny position and I work with a 16 month old in the heart of the city. I have been wearing running shoes but am thinking about investing in a really good pair of flip-flops for the summer and am wondering if there are any drawbacks. The sandals I am considering are over $50 a pair with arch-support.

Is it impractical to wear sandals all summer in the city? My charge and I stroller walk everywhere - sometimes over a mile to our classes and story times.
