If you are so super busy that you cannot respond to your children's caregiver then you need to reassess your priorities. Obviously, you job is more important to you than your children and do not think for a moment that they won't pick up on this sad fact.

Don't assume the worst. Assume that they didn't respond because nothing required a response. If you asked a question or for some feedback that's different, but if you're sending an update email then perhaps there is nothing more behind what's going on than that they didn't think a response was required. That's a different mindset than "Jane's emails are unimportant."

I have this issue with one set of parents and we agreed that I would send one email at the end of the week with everything they need to know for the weekend and that I would raise any other random issues there as well. Then it was only one email to respond to.

This is really just a vent. The parents I work for perfer to communicate mostly by email. Which is fine with me. I always respond to all emails. The parents don't always respond to my emails. I just find it very frustrating! It makes me feel like anything I need to communicate is unimportant.
