this is pretty much what I was thinking. If it's more than 1/2 mile or requires you to walk in unsafe conditions (no sidewalk on a busy road for example) then they need to provide transportation. If it's less than that and safe then just walk. It's not going to hurt anything other than your pride to walk a few blocks though I completely understand why you're insulted.
