You need to make sure it will be safe
You need to receive American/NY training and abide by rules
Some states require you to implement some sort of teaching / head start program
Everyone living in your home needs to provide background check.
Home will be inspected before licensure
Expect frequent unannounced visits from child services
Up to date cpr, first aid, CDL, med administration, SID, epipen.

You'll be in NY state? I would go on the state govt website and also your county website to look for registration and licensing requirements.

I am looking for some advice

First, let me tell you I am not American but I will have a visa that allows me to work in the US (following my husband who's been transfered to NY from our European country).

I have no diploma related to childcare but I am a professional nanny, did the training and have my own little home daycare.
I welcome 4 little kids every day and love my job.

I would love to keep on working in the field I love but first I need to know about how to get registered, what is asked (diplomas ? house size ? anything else ?).
I have heard you can work with assistants. I am willing to work by myself.
