A 15 year old can not legally drive, and OP indicates she would need the caregiver to drive home from school. Does your 5 year old get off the bus, and your sitter just meets him at the bus stop? I know in some schools, if someone is actually picking up a child each day at dismissal, the person has to be at least 18 years old.

She meets her from school. No 18 requirement I am aware of. We are in Moco.

You are better off finding someone who has a morning job or another job and is looking for a few extra hours. At the moment your only candidates will be high school/college students whose school timetable can change a a moments notice.

You will never find anyone reliable and dependable for less that $20 to $25 an hour. After school jobs are the easiest to find and most in demand.

You need to make it appealing, or you are going to have high turnover. Can you use extra hours? How do you feel about having someone do the child's laundry and cleaning? I would suggest a minimum of $50 per day, or your position won't be taken seriously.

$20-25/hr + reimburse for gas.

And you should guarantee the hours--meaning even if you don't need her one day/one week because you are going on vacation, you still pay her the regular pay.

How much is a fair hourly rate for picking 5 year old up from school, driving home and watching for 2 hours every day?
