I agree w/ all of the above.

And then I'd love for applicants to actually read and respond to the specifics.

It's amazing to me how little efforts employers and applicants put in to crafting ads and applications.

I also include a line that says we will be withholding taxes as required by the IRS and that nanny must be legal to work in the US.

I also require reliable transportation.

Really, you should think about anything that would be a deal-breaker for you and include that in the top section. Things that would be great, but not deal-breakers (a second language, ability to ice skate, likes to cook in my case) put in further down.

This list is an excellent template to use for those searching for a new Nanny position.

Thank you for posting!

I've seen so many posts lately, and most of them are missing critical information. I thought I would give employers a checklist, so there are fewer questions about the basics.

Rate (range if doe)
Average number of hours
Normal schedule (if significantly different from normal range of 7 to 6)
Number and age of children
Location and distance to closest metro (if not obvious)
Nanny requirements (bachelor's, cpr/first aid)
Live-in/live-out
Projected length of employment
Required/preferred start date
SAHP/WAHP
Acknowledgement of behavior issues

If applicable:
Driver and general idea of whether it's one activity per day or only activities after pick up
Housekeeping
Tutoring
Flexibility with schedule
Special needs/multiples
Any other special issues/concerns
