Hi OP. Pay sounds good for the amount of hours. If he provides the car, no need to pay mileage, but of course he would be required to keep car gassed up.

I agree with finding someone with experience with this age group (working with teens is totally different than babies/toddlers) and agree that she should be 10+ years older than the girls, this should automatically give her some authority.

I've been working in a similar position for 3 years now, the kids are 16, 14 (twins), & 7. Same hours, pay is a bit less. I use my car and the family pays me mileage. Besides caring for the kids and driving, I also do errands, light housekeeping, organizing, light cooking, etc.

Whoever he hires needs to be a minimum of 10 years older than the girls. Any younger and they will treat her like a peer.

That price range is fine. He needs to eithe rpay mileage or provide a car and a way for nanny to keep it gassed up. I would look for someone who has worked with teens before who is comfortable with boundaries. Could be a younger, late-20's mentor type all the way up to a grandma type but the thing that will matter is experience with that age and maturity/emotional competence in general.

I have a male relative who is going through a divorce. Because he travels a lot, he is thinking of hiring a nanny for his 3 high school girls. Their mother has several disabilities and is unable to drive. How would he go about looking for a nanny who can provide not only driving but also a supportive relationship for high school aged children?would you even call that a nanny? The job would be from 3 until 8 o'clock every day. Responsibilities would include supervising homework and chores, driving to orchestra rehearsals and other extracurriculars, preparing dinner and lunches for the next day, and some light housekeeping tasks. What age should he be looking at? Does anything else come to mind as unnecessary factor in the resume of the person he hires?
