It wasn't a matter of space or money (in my opinion, but maybe it was for her) and I wasn't drinking a full bottle a day, maybe a glass or two. But she got annoyed by it so I stopped and let it go.

Some people think that fluoride is linked to myriad health problems. I'm not one of those people as I've done no research on it. I do remember hearing that if a baby drinks too much fluoridated tap water, it can lead to spots on their teeth. If that is the case, I would rather hold off on giving DD tap water until she is a little older. Plus, I hear that topical fluoride, i.e., toothpaste, is much better for our teeth than ingesting it while being less likely to cause health problems (if at all) because you spit it out. At 18 months, she's still too young for regular toothpaste so that will have to wait, too. And you're right, nanny had no idea the water was for DD!

My family constantly buys cases of bottled water and even us it to make coffee. I think the more economical thing to do is buy a filter for the faucet or one attached to the jug and keep in the fridge, this is what I do at home. Not to mention it's pretty rare that double door fridges don't have filters nowadays.
When I first started with this family I wanted to use the filter on the fridge then realized they didn't have the water line hooked up and mb told me to drink as many bottles as I wanted. I drink at least 3 per day.
You need to let her know that the bottled water is for the baby and install a tap filter. There is all sorts of stuff in the water you shouldn't be consuming yourself and sometimes people just find it disgusting.
This is very petty if you haven't even mentioned it
Problem solved! I totally didn't think of getting a tap filter. I asked her if she was okay drinking Brita water and she said sure!
