There is nothing great about spoiling a child. You work for them, let them spoil him for ridiculous holidays. I'm happy my mb and db didn't give treats and toys to my charges this year. The are still enjoying Christmas gifts for goodness sakes. A book for Valentine's Day is teaching the wrong thing. Instead teach them how to go to the library and check out books and the responsibility of returning them for others to enjoy

Oh my Gosh. It's always something isn't it? I'm not giving my charges valentines. They are giving them out at school and filled them out with their mother. However we did make large homemade valentines for all the special people they could think of in their lives. I'd rather teach them to be generous and thoughtful than to be expecting yet another treat on a holiday, especially one that is for adults. No wonder this generation is so spoiled.

I am a French nanny (working in France) and we do not give kids gifts to the kids for Valentine's Day.

But I help them make a craft activity for their parents saying how much they love them

OP again- I just decided to give them each a valentines themed stufffed animal of their favorite animals and a mini 4 piece chocolate box. Will probably bring two year old somewhere fun and different tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestions!

Yes, I always give a gift for Valentine's Day. This year I gave the Gossie Valentine book - very cute.

yes, just valentines. This year I bought a box of scratch and sniff and they're all going nuts over the sniff part. I'm giving them to all the kids I see this week and last (if i don't see them this week.)

I usually do an experience, like a children's play, and something personal, like a stuffed unicorn if the child likes unicorns.

Our manny knows we dislike clutter. He gives them each a heart balloon and then they bake heart-shaped cookies or something.

If so, what do you give them? My charges are 2, 5, and 6. The 5 year old has type 1 diabetes, so I don't want to go crazy with candy. Maybe a cute card and stuffed animal?
