There are several factors:

Housekeeping versus tidying
Letting people in to do things versus doing the research, scheduling and supervising all work
How many kids and ages
Whether there are other domestic employees and whether this position is the supervisor
Grocery shopping and shopping in stores for kids' things versus online ordering
Level of education and experience
Whether there are pets, if they create more work and number of pets
Whether there are other tasks required which are not normally required (yard work)
Live-in versus live-out

the only reason rates are $22-25/hour are because they are part-time. Doing errands and watching kids after school.
Totally different from nannying a baby or toddler from 8-5pm.
The rate is higher as a sort of retainer function and to keep on the person who used to work more hours at a lower rate, now works less hours at a higher rate (and likely less gross per week).

WHAT KIND OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE ARE YOU LOOKING FOR, OP?

Our nanny basically runs our house and takes care of everything for DD - laundry, ordering supplies, grocery shopping, making DD's meals - but no cleaning at all. Her primary job is teaching and caring for our daughter and that has always come first with us. Nanny has a masters degree and experience as a preschool teacher. Since she is bright and well-educated, she sort of took over household ordering (paper towels and the like) as well as handling paying and instructing the biweekly housekeeper.

Our nanny is paid $27 an hour plus we cover 100% of her health insurance.

If you are looking for ONE person to do EVERYTHING as you say, and you have a house of any reasonable size, I would encourage you to rethink things. Not because of the cost, but because that is too much for one person to do and you would be a bad employer.

If you are looking for ONE person to do EVERYTHING as you say, and you have a house of any reasonable size, I would encourage you to rethink things. Not because of the cost, but because that is too much for one person to do and you would be a bad employer.

No need to yell. Who knows what OP meant by that? Maybe they have a weekly cleaning service for deep cleans; maybe they expect her to do yard work. Who knows? And if her kids are all 10 and up, that changes the calculus, too. There's nowhere near enough information here.

OP the goinf rate is between $15-20/h You can find great nanny for $16-18/h for 1 child and $20-22/h for 2 kids

I would say the low end is $25/hr, but it could be $10/more depending on what you're looking for, or $5/less if there really aren't that many expectations besides being there.
