+1. The employers won't get anyone great but they know that already and probably are not expecting high quality nanny. People who are just so so nannies also need jobs. Not everyone who wants to nanny qualifies to get even "average" rates. So the market will sort it out. Why the outrage?

I'm just curious how much you can afford monthly for child care?

Perhaps they just need a savvy, professional nanny to apply who ca n explain the benefits of a nanny share. That would be a great rate for their portion of a share, and the nanny might be willing to have it be a little less, for the weeks with fewer hours.

You don't even know if they mean $400 net or gross. Chill. BTW, minimum wage is $7.25 in VA.

What is it with the nanny outrage? It doesn't show anything except how one family is trying to hire a nanny. You wouldn't accept those terms, nor will the next nanny. So the parents with either not be able to fill the position and will be forced to offer more or will wind up with someone with very little experience. No one gets any particular salary because they "deserve" it. They get the salary that the market will bear for the job. It's just a supply and demand issue. I often see jobs in my own field posted for 1/2 of what I make. I'm not outraged, I just move onto the next post.

I suppose with $1300 the nanny can secure a better corner on the street to sleep.

Parents who underpay the person to care for & love their child while they need to earn a living make me ill.

Ads like this are an insult to the entire Nanny profession!!

Oh, and who is to say they will not be leaving the kid with nanny for 45 hours all the time?

I am outraged because a min wage worker and a nanny you leave your kids with is not the same.

If I was underqualified i would go flip burgers at Burger King. And flipping burgers is not the same as taking care of a baby.

As a nanny you will take responsibility for an infant, clean up after her, do her laundry, pretty much raise her all day long, be CPR certified and take home $7 an hour. Right.

I am outraged because there are so many parents like these that they feel they are entitled to a nanny because they are too busy having careers and too busy to take care of their own kid, and their kid is of course too prdiouw to join the others at a local daycare!
And they have no shame in posting an ad like this.
