I've taken my employers non-prescription medicine before when I run out (Advil or Tums usually). I always ask first, I've never had a family say no. I'm mindful, and usually provide my own but there are situations where you have nothing and it's way easier to grab two pills from upstairs than get the kids loaded in the car and grab some at CVS.

Anything odd in your house or pets?

I am a Nanny and find it presumptuous to take any medication in someone's home sans permission.

This is just plain rude.

If she had a headache or stomachache, she should ask you first instead of just helping herself.

WHO does that.....??!

Do you have a pet or something in your environment she is allergic to? If no, she shouldn't be regularly taking your medication.

Just go to Costco and get her a huge bottle. They are expensive depending on where you buy it. I'd be annoyed about allergy meds but not ibuprofen, pepto or something else.

Another much ado about nothing post.

Tell her to stop or buy enough for both of you.

I've taken a dose of pepto from them before. I don't think I would have made it to music class otherwise.

It would never occur to me it's not ok to take a couple advil if I had a headache. I try to keep that stuff on hand but sometimes I ride my bike and not everything makes it out of my purse and into my bike bag. If I end up with a headache or cramps and I can't get out w/ the kids to get what I need you better believe I'll be swiping yours. Alternatively I can call you and say I'm sick and you need to come home. Which would you prefer?

That's odd. I don't take many OTC meds. Ut when I do I bring them from home. If something happened where I didn't have what I needed I might text MB/DB and say, "I'm getting a headache. Can I swipe some ibuprofin?" I wouldn't even know for sure where it is without asking because of course it's all pit away from where kids/I spend time.

I never take MB's meds. If I needed anything I would just drop her a text and ask if it is okay to take it but I wouldn't help myself.
Ask your nanny if she is okay and that you have noticed the meds going down. At least then she knows you have noticed and hopefully won't keep taking them. To be honest I would be more concerned as to why she keeps taking so many...

Um yeah no. No going into the medicine cabinet at all. The first aid kid is out in a separate place baindaids and Tylenol etc. I would have a serious issue with this.

She has only taken things I've offered. I would not be comfortable with her going through the medicine cabinet, so I might consider putting together a little box of over-the-counter meds that you keep in the kitchen or somewhere that she can use as needed.

How frequently is she taking this medicine, and how expensive is it? Is there a generic alternative? If it's less than $1/day, I wouldn't say anything at all.

I think he took Tylenol once for a headache. If you don't want her taking yours just tell her to bring her own. But that seems pretty stingy.

Our nanny goes through our medicine cabinet and keeps taking this one medication we have. It's not prescription so it's not a big deal, but it's annoying because I have to go out and replace it. Am I just being an a**hole for being annoyed by this? It's not a cheap medication either and I've had to replace it twice now. Does your nanny do this? I'm going to say something next time.
