My charges hit the jackpot with me since I love them to bits! I held, cuddled, talked, read and sang to my charges from the time they were both three days old until today!

I'm a nanny who works in a home of extremely hands off parents. They got a ridged and uneducated baby nurse to look after their baby for their first year. She was super cold and never let the child's sibling interact or touch the baby. No one paid attention to the baby. The baby nurse kept the child isolated in his room most of the time in fear of germs. When the baby nurse left the child was damaged. Not only did the child not eat solid foods at a year, he also was far behind in his speech and gross motor skills. It's really important who your children spend most of their time with.

Nope.

They need to be loved by their caregivers. First of all, even if mom works she's still home the majority of the time in a week. So, the child is getting maternal love and care.

A caregiver could be a grandparent, a nanny, and aunt a friend. They just need to be loved. The more people that love your child, the better.

Most parents time with their kids consist of when the child is in bed and the weekends. Most of kids wake hours are with a caregiver it parents work full time.

Exactly. Just a fact for most parents with demanding jobs away from home.

WHy not the father? Are you arguing that Dad's don't love their kids as much as mums do?

That is extremely uncalled for and rude. Even if mothers do stay at home, a baby needs love from every person that is in their life. Your rude statement is wrong. There are many loving caregivers who can be another person in a child's life to give them love.

I think a working mom is a wonderful thing for several reasons but I will list the main two. It's a wonderful thing to teach a child that a woman can work an earn a living. It's important to let a little girl know that she have a career and raise family. The other important part is for financial reasons. So many families are dealing with medical issues, death, divorce, etc., and the woman becomes the breadwinner. Some families also need a duel income to provide for their family. I think it's important for a woman to have an income of her own if any of the above reasons occurred.

You need to learn not to be judgemental. I hope you aren't a nanny because you seem to lack common sense and compassion for others.

There is an idea that a babies 'stress thermostat' (where a person reaches meltdown point) is determined during infancy. The idea that they can not trust their caregivers (secure attachment), and being responded to without love (roughly and angry facial expressions of the part of the caregiver) sets this thermostat very low. What this means through childhood and into adulthood is that they are the person that just doesn't cope with anything.

So much of the brains wiring happens in the early years its really important. Harlow's monkey experiment (baby monkey prefer the soft reassuring 'cloth' mother, as opoosed to a 'wire' mother that has a teat/ feeds the monkeys) shows us how important touch and comfort is to our young. Romanian orphanages - where the babies were just left to cry really show how the babies withdraw into themselves and stop interacting - its fascinating to look at, but very sad and heartbreaking

If children don't get loving touch BEFORE age two, they are prone to severe lifelong problems.
