Engage with the child enthusiastically and articulate what you would offer to the family BEFORE you ask about money, bonuses, and benefits.

- ask smart questions about our parenting style, things we value most, what we're looking for, etc...
- speak well - seem intelligent, capable, calm
- have a nice sense of humor and a positive spirit
- have straightforward, direct answers to questions - especially ones regarding employment history, choice of nannying as a profession, etc...
- can talk about what makes a great fit for them in terms of a job

etc...

All of the above AND ask where she can wash her hands before she comes near the baby.

Know something about the area and activities she would do with the kids.

The nannies I have rejected out of hand are the ones who couldn't come up with specific examples of activities, outings, how they handle problems or behavior, etc.. The ones who really "wow" me are the ones who sound like they could fill up a day really easily.

lol. wierd. Coincidentally, all dogs love me and I've never been turned down for a job, but some people are scared of dogs and may be nice people.

What is something a nanny can do or say during the initial interview to really wow you and set them above the other candidates? Thank you
