I agree you should have been on time even if it meant parking down the street and reading a magazine for thirty minutes, but sometimes things happen that you really can't control. I was late (really late) to my first ever nanny interview but still got the job and was never late again.

These parents sound clueless and not the type of people you want to work for. Good riddance I say.

I did this with a nanny family I used to work for. It was because it's really hard for a parent to know what makes a good nanny, but nannies do. I was able to weed out the lazy losers and people just in it for the money. The family wants a connection and a person who will love their child and they were willing to pay well above top dollar for it, so I was more than happy to help them through the process.

P.S. OP, when you are late it is your fault.

Do you have the old, bitch nanny's number? I would hire her in a heartbeat. You, OP? Never.

Bravo to the former nanny for looking out for her former family.

Fyi... how can you be late to an interview!?

Yeah right. That doesn't sound too pathetic, "I didn't want to go to the prom anyway...".

Buck up, OP. You blew the interview and were Kate. Would it have mattered if the MB asked the questions or a grandparent? Own your mistakes and learn from them. This job loss is on you and not the former nanny.

You never should have been late, OP. Never. I am in total agreement with the "bitch nanny".

I am a nanny and I would have asked the same questions, too. OP sounds like she is shockingly entitled. Nannies KNOW that some nannies lie about CPR training and vaccines. If I were in the position to hire a nanny, I would ask for proof of both as well.

I can't stand over protective nannies or those that think they are the parents....like really? U are better off without all of them my dear, plenty of AS jobs here not being filled. Also being late to an interview does not necessarily mean will reflect ur performance on the job.

You were late to an interview and you think that wasn't your fault? That's insane.

Sounds like a great nanny looking out for her old charge. I wouldn't have interviewed someone who was late.

Those are appropriate questions. You should have left earlier in case there was traffic or an accident and I'd be very concerned if you were late, especially if you didn't call.

Those sound like pretty standard interview questions to me.

Wow. Sounds weird.
I think you are better off looking for another family to work for.

I interviewed for an after-school nanny job yesterday and am still mad about it. The parents were there and so was the child AND SO WAS THE FORMER FULL TIME NANNY. Now this nanny has a new full time job but still sees the child every week, who she was with since birth. I totally get the bonding and attachment the kid and old nanny have for each other BUT...

This old nanny grilled me at the interview! The parents sat there smiling while this bitch nanny asked me about CPR training and asked to see the certificate!!! I was a little late to the interview (not my fault) and when the nanny told me how important it was to pick up the kid from school on time I said "of course" and then she goes, "Well you were late today so I am concerned." She asked me about my college degree, where I went to school, where I worked in the past, etc. Fast questions and she was not smiling. The whole thing was just really uncomfortable. The parents did ask me a few questions and I thought I did good with them. I am sure the old nanny did not like me and will not say anything nice to the parents about me.

So much for solidarity with other nannies, right?!
