Dont' take the job. Write or call back and turn down the job. If you feel like helping them out by all means mention that the pay rate is too low for you. If the gap between what you want and what they want to pay isn't huge I might say something like 'Sorry, I'm having to turn this down. Normally my rate is around x and i can't afford to work for the y you are curently offering.

I normally charge 180$ - 220$ per 24 hours. So that would mean $720 - $880 would be what I would cost the parents, per week. However, I also have no idea how that 96 hours is split (I've assumed 4 x 24 hour days), at which point do they expect you to pay rent on a place for the other 3 days? If you are doing overnight shifts you can charge more than you would during the day. Doesn't look good.

I'm a California nanny too. LA area but not beverly hills.

I make $35/hr and I have 1 nk and they have a housekeeper and chef.

In this area you will see a range of pay from $18 (way too low for this area but newbies take it) to $40 an hour. NCS make any more.

Supply and demand. You want the overall package you pay for it.

Math is not your strong suit, huh? You are being paid roughly $500/ wk and working roughly 100 hours/ wk. and you have concluded that this is about $2/hr?

U are being used but the issue is u are ok with it.

See this is the difference between professional nannies, who do this for a living and those who don't.

I, at least, strive to better myself and my career. If I didn't I would still be making minimum wage and struggling to pay the bills. Why would anyone choose to live like that?

There are literally a million jobs posting right now on multiple nanny agency sites, in California.

Why downgrade yourself so much?

Are you not worth at least minimum wage?

You legally must get paid minimum wage for hours worked. What are the hours each day ? Will you sleep while working ?

2000/ month is 24000/year, so effectively $461.54/week.

96 hours as live - in is all the same rate unless it's in md, ny or another state that mandates overtime for live - in domestics. The most per hour is $4.81/hour (and if live - in is offered rather than mandated, they can make a case for taking out room and board), so it might be legal... might.

I'm a live - in nanny exclusively, and I love working 24/7, but I wouldn't touch this without assurances. I'm not toting a 10 month old all over the country so that single mom can see her child, nor am I going to deal with jealousy when the parent is seen by the toddler as a visitor, while nanny raises the child. I've worked with parents who weren't home for months... As long as the adults know what the situation is and can be on the same page, it's fine. Otherwise... no way!

Even as a live in you still need to make minimum wage.

So you have no life for pennies a day. That's utter nonsense
