Don't hire a foreign or undocumented nanny. There is no way to even check if you have her real name.

What agencies are you using to do background checks? Some of the nannies I've interviewed I found by posting on this site, not through an agency. Has anyone experienced a foreign nanny not willing to jump through the background check hoops? How would a background check work for folks who weren't born in the US? Wouldn't that leave some kind of gap in their background check?

I've watched too many crime shows that I have the irrational fear that they're somehow going to steal my child and sell them into human trafficking. Does anyone else have this fear? I'm a new mom, can you tell?
