Nobody said anything about her being a B*$%#. It's just not a match: this particular nanny has demonstrated that she wants and will take a $25/hr job, and this family has demonstrated that they can't pay that by allowing her to leave despite being happy with the quality of the work. So it's better for everyone in the long run, if another nanny is hired by this family, i.e. a nanny who is willing to work for what they are paying.

God forbid someone doesn't just want to work for $18/hr for life. What a B*$%#!

If you haven't found an adequate replacement yet, I'd consider hiring her back as long as the parting was amicable. She is already familiar with your child and household. I give people a second chance as long as they haven't lied to me.

If you do that, I would also have a very blunt conversation with her about why she's coming back, and whether or not she can be satisfied with her pay.

If someone happened to offer her this job somewhat out of the blue I might, She might have made a quick decision and now regrets it. If thats the case and you were happy before she left I would hire her again.

Great advice

I wouldn't hire her back.

The trust has been completely eroded now & I would always be wondering if she would be looking for an even higher paying job on her time off.

And the fear would always exist that she would one up and leave me high + dry again.

She made her bed....Now she needs to lie down on it.

Isn't that how life works??!

I would talk to her...sometime people have great regrets and deserve a second chance. Even in our jobs, you find folks who leave, regret it, and come back.

No. She may be an amazing Nanny but that trust was broken and imo, there's no going back.

Did you like her? I wouldn't hire her back as I will now know she will be looking for a higher paid position and will leave as soon as that happens.

My nanny quit last month to take a higher paying job, but she just called me the other day asking for her job back. Has anyone ever been in a situation like this? She was a great nanny to my toddler, but I'm afraid this will happen again. Someone offered her a job for $25/hr to care for a disabled child and she asked us to match that amount which we couldn't so she left. She said her current job is too physically demanding. Ugh...finding reliable care is really hard.
